Prevent Targeted Violence with Threat Assessment and Management
Our experts utilize a holistic approach to threat assessment and management, analyzing the case for behavioral clues, and translating the information into practical advice to ensure the most likely successful strategies are implemented to mitigate the threat.
We partner with you to guide the investigation, assess the person’s mindset, motivation, behavior, and intent, and identify warning signs and violence risk level. If the individual is assessed as posing a threat, we design management strategies specific to the individual using a spectrum of approaches, from engaging law enforcement, to identifying mental health resources, to partnering with the individual’s family and friends to change their mind about committing the attack. The management plan is implemented, monitored, and adjusted until the individual no longer poses a threat.

About Threat Assessment
Developed by the Secret Service in 1995, behavioral-based threat assessment is applied to prevent a wide variety of crimes, including mass shootings, workplace violence, school/campus violence, domestic violence, stalking, and communicated threats. Individuals who conduct targeted violence attacks often have a grievance and take time to consider, plan, and prepare for their attack, which provides an opportunity to identify, assess, and manage the individual. Threat assessment and management are ongoing processes; as new information arises, and as life stressors and circumstances change in their life, the concern for violence risk may escalate or de-escalate.
